Beech Village Hall
Additional Grant Request
In
September 2003, BPC pledged £10,000 towards development of a new village hall,
to be made available on commencement of development.
At
the time, BPC also indicated that it hoped to be in a position in the future to
support this provision in the long term.
In
November 2006, £2,500 was given for the purchase of tractor and new tables and
chairs.
In
October 2007, a request was received for a further £10,000 towards
re-development and £5,000 towards short-term improvements for kitchen. Council declined request, as follows:
“In view of other potential future commitments on Council
funds, which have to be raised through Precept, Council propose to review the
granting of any further funds to the Village Hall after your detailed plans
have received a mandate from the village and planning permission from East
Hampshire District Council.
The Council has welcomed your suggestion that a
particular aspect of the works be identified as Parish Council funded (eg.
catering facilities) and would be pleased to discuss this in detail with you
once planning permission has been acquired.”
Council
are now asked to re-consider the request for a further contribution towards the
village hall development.
